General Guidelines In Mudra Therapy/Healing

When we execute mudra(s), there are certain general guidelines that we should understand:
- A light contact between the thumb and the finger(s) suffice; firm pressure is not really required;
- The position of other fingers which are not participating in that mudra is immaterial. They can be held straight or allowed to bend as per the practioner’s desire;
- Understand that whenever touching a finger-tip to the thumb-base reduces the element residing in that finger whilst touching a finger-tip to the thumb-tip increases the element residing in that finger;
- Whenever possible, perform mudras with bot the hands;
- Interestingly, mudra(s) can be practised anytime and in any places. This can be when you are reading a newspaper, travelling, watching television shows or listening to music and others. However, simultaneous meditation can, enhanced the mudra(s) benefits;
- Like reflexology,accessories like rubber bands or sticking plasters can be used in passive execution of the mudra(s);
- Mudra(s) can be performed in whatever position-lying, sitting, standing, walking,etc. However, simultaneous meditational asanas like Padmasana or Vajrasana are recommended;
- Almost all mudra(s) except for some like Aakaash-shaamak and Apaan-vaayu mudras) needs to be practised for about 45 minutes daily either at one stretch or in three parts namely 15 minutes per session for at least 15 days to experience benefits.Preferably, they should be practised till the disease has being eradicated.
- Common sense dicates that suitable dietary changes can reinforce the benefits of mudras and
- Mudra Therapy can be used as a supplementary medicinal tool besides other forms of medical treatment.
