Some No,No in Reflexology

Posted by slang on 15 Apr 2008 | Tagged as: Reflexology

Reflexology practisioners advice that reflexology should not be used in the following situation/circumstances:

  • immediately after surgery until the doctor has pronounced complete recovery
  • when the receiver is suffering from fever-the body is already fighting off toxins and a reflexology treatment would release more toxins into the system
  • if the receiver has an infectious skin conditions such as scabies, as you do not want to spread the condition or infect yourself. However, conditions such as eczema and prsoriasis are not infectious and should improve with treatment
  • if the receiver suffers from thrombosis-reflexology could move a clot
  • during pregnancy where there is an element of risk especially during the first 12-14 weeks or if the pregnancy is complicated.

Other cautions include:

  • corns and calluses-use gently presure if they are painful
  • be careful with the pancreas reflexes when treating a diabetic.Use less pressure as the skin can be thinner, bruises easily and diabetics may heal more slowly
  • be careful of the heart area if there are cardiac problems or if the receiver has a pacemaker
  • don’t overtreat one particular area
  • wait for a couple of hours after a heavy meal before treatment
  • don’t promise to cure a condition
  • do not apply strong pressure. A treatment should never be painful
  • never press directly over a cut, brusie, recent scar, painful area or severe varicose vein

Reflexology as Preventive Health Care

Posted by slang on 15 Apr 2008 | Tagged as: Reflexology

As described earlier the many benefits of reflexology, there is one particular benefit which is that reflexology acts as preventive healthcare is interesting to note.

Why is this so? Reflexology is able to boost/strengthen the immune system hence preventing illnesses & diseass from occurring. By pressing the relevant reflex zones on the feet, the natural healing forces within the body are released and mobilized hence restoring the body to harmony. The imbalance becomes balance hence health is restored. Incidentally, patients who receive regular reflexology treatments report that they are far less susceptiable to catching colds and flu even though everyone around them may be coughing and sneezing.

Laughter is often the best medicine.

The below humors for those can stomach the smartness of women:

WIFE VS. HUSBAND

A couple drove down a country road for several miles,
not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an
argument and neither of them wanted to concede their
position. As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats,
and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically,
“Relatives of yours?” “Yep,” the wife replied, “In-laws.”

WORDS
A husband read an article to his wife about how many
words women use a day… 30,000 to a man’s 15,000.
The wife replied, “The reason has to be because we
have to repeat everything to men…
The husband then turned to his wife and asked, “What?”

CREATION
A man said to his wife one day, “I don’t know how you
can be so stupid and so beautiful all at the same time.
” The wife responded, “Allow me to explain. God made
me beautiful so you would be attracted to me;
God made me stupid so I would be attracted to you!

WHO DOES WHAT
A man and his wife were having an argument about who
should brew the coffee each morning.
The wife said, “You should do it, because you get up
first, and then we don’t have to wait as long to get our coffee.”
The husband said, ” You are in charge of cooking
around here and you should do it, because that is your
job, and I can just wait for my coffee.”
Wife replies, “No, you should do it, and besides, it
is in the Bible that the man should do the coffee.”
Husband replies, “I can’t believe that, show me.”
So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New
Testament and showed him at the top of several pages,
that it indeed says………. “HEBREWS”

The Silent Treatment
A man and his wife were having some problems at home and were giving
each other the silent treatment. Suddenly, the man realized that the
next day, he would need his wife to wake him at 5:00 AM for an early
morning business flight. Not wanting to be the first to break the
silence (and LOSE), he wrote on a piece of paper,
“Please wake me at 5:00 AM.” He left it where he knew she would find
it. The next morning, the man woke up, only to discover it was 9:00 AM and
he had missed his flight. Furious, he was about to go and see why his
wife hadn’t wakened him, when he noticed a piece of paper by the bed.
The paper said, “It is 5:00 AM. Wake up.”

How do we make ourselves feel young and happy? Read stories on humors/jokes to enliven one’s lives.

A European tourist was visiting a temple in Singapore when he noticed
two statues, a man and a woman by the altar.

He asked the monk what was the significance of the two.

The monk explained that in the Chinese system of yin and yang,

positives must always be balanced by negatives, and having the

two statues ensures that the universal balance was maintained.

“This statue of the woman is the Goddess of Mercy, Kuan-Yin.”

“What about the other one?” asked the tourist.

“This one is the God of No Mercy, Kuan-Yew.”
